Holiday Design - Yay or Nay?

With the holidays on the horizon, retailers are breaking out their holiday swag to make sure shoppers are in the holiday spirit (and spending their holiday cash). Here in our building, a giant Christmas tree completed with faux presents was erected in no time flat in the lobby. Along with physical stores, online retailers are in the holiday spirit as well. Sites like Old Navy, Gap and HGTV are all decked out in new holiday-themed decor.

While retailers are getting in the spirit, their goal is to sell more stuff–after all, according to The New Yorker "The Christmas shopping season can account for as much as forty per cent of a retail store’s annual revenue and as much as three-quarters of its annual profit."

In a word where a mega corporation can release a crummy new logo, have the whole twitter and facebook universes roar in anger and, because of such angry outspoken fans, change back to their original logo, it's hard to hold on to a feeling of confidence about very much.

Enter Joomla. The siren of CMS. It dangles fancy ideas of being able to easily put together and manage a website, regardless of how much the user knows.

Lies and deceit.

Well, hello there current and potential customers! As you can already tell from above, this is a new segment in our already entertaining blog. In this segment, I (Ike Vengeance Peters) will expound on certain aspects of our business that you should probably already know. This will include social media etiquette, how not to be annoying with SEO, what looks terrible and what doesn't, and plenty of other random things about marketing. Today's episode is all about the importance of good web design. And believe me! None of this will at all be promoting Melaroo to handle all your web design needs. Isn't that right, Easily Recognizable Melaroo Kangaroo?

People say that the eyes are the windows into the soul. Well, we say web sites are like the windows into your business. Well...we never actually say that. I just said it. But you get the point, though, right? The point is that if you look good, then potential customers are going to be quicker to buy what you're selling. It's an age-old technique that started when shop owners would make their front window all nice and pretty.
