Have you seen Linkedin lately? Do you use it on a daily basis? What are they doing?
Through all of our social media classes and training, everyone has always agreed they enjoyed Linkedin the most. At least 90% of the room had a Linkedin profile, 40-50% had a facebook profile, and only about 10% had a Twitter profile. What does ths mean to us? People liked Linkedin.
So as Linkedin changes their interface to become more social and interactive, do you think people are going to be happy about this? My opinion: No! The general business community actually appreciated the fact that Linkedin was less social and more corporate. The bulk of people that attend social media classes and want to use social media are scared of it.
There is another argument to this as well. Linkedin doesn't have near as many users as Facebook and even Twitter, so does that mean Linkedin will get more users? I don't think anything is really going to change for Linkedin just yet. Linkedin has been more prohibitive in its usage, so I don't see this change growing their users. Corporate people, who Linkedin appeals to the most, can benefit from Linkedin for their business. Since they can't communicate with people in real time like Facebook and Twitter, the boss is more likely to be okay with you using Linkedin over Facebook, where you may play Farmville or some other useless game that wastes your time at work!
What are your thoughts on Linkedin's changes? Are you going to use it more? Will you be more interactive?
