Everyone's heard of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, to name just a few of the social media marketing tools out there. But are any of them worth joining? Here are some 2011 statistics you might want to keep in mind when planning your marketing strategy.  Facebook, by far is the largest.  In fact, if Facebook was a country,

it would be the 3rd most populated.  And, who would have thought Facebook would overtake Google as the most visited site?& Facebook has 175 million users logging in every 24 hours, sharing 30 billion pieces of content a month, such as: charity events, funny and informative videos, and articles that they can relate to or think has valuable information to their friends.

Twitter went public in July 2006 and became a smash hit at South by Southwest festival where people could see live Twitter feeds about the crowds reactions. Twitter didn't start off popular in the business sector. However, in 2009 businesses on Twitter jumped from 3% in 2008 to 49%. If you're a business that attends conferences or expos, you might want to create a Twitter account so you can share information about your company and booth around the conference through live Twitter feeds.

LinkedIn currently has 100 million members worldwide and is one of the most valuable ways to recruit new talent, stay connected with other business owners and customers in a more "professional" setting. 68% of the users are 35 years old or older.  39% make over 100k a year and 69% make at least 60k a year.  74% have a college degree or better with 26% having a graduate degree. 41% of the business world have generated business with a LinkedIn profile, 70% are currently looking for a job while 80% are using it as a primary tool for recruiting.

Did you know that YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine, releasing 7 hours of content per minute? Yep, that's what I said, 7 hours per minute! Melaroo can create your company's next video - whether it's for your website, streaming live training, a commercial or a presentation. We recommend our clients upload their company videos on YouTube and embed the video directly to their website. Adding a video to your site and tagging it properly in YouTube is another way to build your Search Engine Optimization.

These are just 4 of the many social networks out there, so how do you keep up with them all? Melaroo can definitely provide you with Social Media Marketing. However, if you want to take a stab at it yourself, we'd recommend using Hootsuite as a management tool. Not only is Hootsuite free, but it also allows you to schedule your posts throughout all platforms. Although this is very convenient, don't fall short of keeping it real. In other words, make sure your posts, whether scheduled or not are still connecting with your clients.

Now that you see how many people are using Social Media, let's talk about how companies should use it.
