The new crave is Social Media Marketing. Have you hear of it? Better yet, have you joined it? Don't just create a profile to sell, sell, sell. And definitely don't let it sit there and collect dust. Use social media marketing as a resource to drive business. Create a profile to be interactive with your clients, become a resource and sell every once in a while, we recommend a 1:4 ratio.
The largest mistake we see with businesses on social media is
they are constantly trying to sell. Have you seen posts like this, "come visit our gun shop and save 20%" and the next is "buy a 9mm for $400", but they're not posting information about the shop, or things you should consider when buying a gun. Remember, social media is a way to connect with your clients. It is important to build relationships. Think of it as virtual networking. Here are a few social media marketing tips we tell our clients:
- Build rapport. Take the time to learn what your clients or potential clients need.
- Become a resource. Update your clients about news relating to your industry AND how it will help their company.
- Post images/videos - random, funny or company videos. Again, we suggest loading to YouTube first and linking.
- Make posts that are edgy and interactive, ask for examples or feedback on something.
- Don't be afraid to "like" your competition. You can make comments on their walls, becoming a resource for their clients and sharpening your knowledge on the competition.
- Connect your company's FB page with a trusted employee's page. There are three reasons why: 1. you can assign the employee as an admin to the page, giving them access from their personal FB page, 2. That employee can invite his/her friends to become a fan of the business page and 3. you can tag people or places when you are out and about giving presentations, networking or promoting your client.
Once your company has Social Media accounts, the best way to get your clients and potential clients to "follow" or "like" you is to put the social media icons linking to your page and the "like us" or "follow us" buttons on your website, creating a call to action for social media.
