QR stands for "quick response" and QR codes are becoming an increasingly popular way to connect with mobile users. QR codes can be scanned by mobile devices (primarily smart phones) which directs that device to the associated content.

What can the code include?

QR codes can include a wide variety of information including plain text, phone numbers, URLs, addresses, and so on! The codes are read both horizontal and vertical, so they can contain 1000's of characters (4,296 alphanumeric to be exact).

Why use a QR code?

Mobile search has become a major source for information. There are over 286,000,000 mobile devices in the US alone, and many of these users are switching to smart phones. As the number of smart phone users increases, so does the number of mobile searches and mobile internet use. The QR code allows these users to quickly get the information they desire. Since we must engage a viewer within just a few seconds, we don't want them spending 2 minutes trying to get to our information. Instant access is key to engagement!

QR codes can be printed on just about anything. Typically, you will find them on a printed material such as a direct mail piece or poster, but we have seen QR codes on t-shirts and other apparel. You should consider using a QR code on all of your marketing materials to make digesting your information easier for mobile users.

Melaroo can generate QR codes for you, which allows you to place these unique codes on anything you need.
