According to Jim Farley, marketing chief for Ford, they can get more for less on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, so they are dropping their Super Bowl ads! Really? Ford, best American car company in regards to revenue, is dropping their Super Bowl spending? In previous discussions, we have talked about the importance of social media marketing, but this is an excellent example of the major shift taking place right now in marketing departments.
So why would Ford drop spending on one of the most anticipated advertising events of the year? Cost and tracking. I want to look at both, so everyone really understands why they are doing it!
